Reginald L. Ford - "Redd" - was born on March 23, 1973, in Monroe, Louisiana. In
1988, he made the move to California with his mom, June Osifeso, and his brothers and
sister. That move opened the door to a whole new chapter of life. He went on to attend
Palmdale High School in 1992.
Redd spent so much of his life helping young people find their way. He worked at
Children Are Our Future, in North Hills and Optimum Performance Institute (OPI) in Los
Angeles. Redd always showed up with heart, patience, and compassion. In 2012 he
stepped into what became his true calling, a licensed barber.
Redd met Doris, the love of his life, in 1995. They married the very next year and built a
beautiful life together full of adventures, laughter, and deep love. In 2004, their son,
Reginald L. Ford Jr. (RJ), arrived-the light of Redd's world.
Family was everything to Redd, but his love did not stop with family. He had a way of
making everyone feel like they belonged. In 2022, he adopted his nephew, Melvin
Rufus, and brought him to California, making sure he received every chance to grow
and thrive, until both Melvin and RJ left for college. He also welcomed Mariah, RJ's
girlfriend, with open arms. He cared for her so much that he would jokingly call her his
"daughter," which always made us laugh. Redd had a rare gift for making people feel
appreciated, and truly cared for.
Behind the barber chair, Redd touched more lives than he probably ever realized. His
shop was not just about haircuts-it was where people came for encouragement,
laughter, real talk, and a moment to feel at home. Clients quickly became friends, and
many became family.
Redd also loved his hobbies-Fantasy Football, competing in his Fantasy Football
League, especially being part of the "Ebony Jeep Dynasty Club." Redd co-founded
Ebony Jeep Dynasty Club with his friend Kathleen Pate (Kat). Jeep meetups and rides
brought him so much joy-his excitement was contagious, and the Jeep community
became like another family to him.
Redd is preceded in death by his father, Craig Hampton.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Doris Ford; his son, Reginald L. Ford Jr. (RJ); his
mother, June Osifeso; his brothers, Timothy Taylor and Terrance Taylor; and his sister,
(Shay) Shececheka King. He is also deeply loved and remembered by his nieces
I'maja, Armani, and Kailah; his nephews: (Tay)Terrance II, (DaDa) Da'marri, (Karri)
Ja'Karri, Tre'marri, Kayden, Melvin, Aaron, and Stephan; and his siblings on his dad's
side, Craig Hampton Jr., Floretta Rufus, Marian Rufus, and Sevetra Rufus.
